This position is onsite at our Chatsworth location until Spring 2025 then the position will move permanently to our Oxnard location.

What would you do as a Chemical Engineer
As a Full-Time Chemical Engineer at PTI Technologies, you will play a critical role in managing tasks and projects that directly impact our CAD/PAD Product Line in the aerospace sector. Your responsibilities will encompass designing and developing innovative products, alongside creating and operating energetic material processes critical to defense-aerospace pyrotechnic devices. You will act as a liaison with customers and suppliers while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Your expertise will be essential during Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), and Production Readiness Reviews (PRR), where you will prepare design review materials and test plans. Your analytical skills will shine as you conduct thorough technical compliance reviews, failure analyses, and various forms of engineering analyses. Additionally, you will collaborate with multiple stakeholders, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues throughout the project lifecycle, all while contributing to a safe and high-performance work environment.

You should possess the ability to read and accurately interpret drawings and specifications, along with hands-on design experience in mechanical, electro-mechanical, and hydraulic components. A keen interest in learning about energetic material processes and pyrotechnic devices is essential. Proficiency in interpreting test data and drawing logical conclusions will enhance your decision-making capabilities. Additionally, strong communication skills will be vital for liaising with suppliers, customers, and internal departments.
Familiarity with CAD software such as Solidworks, coupled with knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis, is highly desirable. A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering is required, and prior experience of 3 to 5 years in engineering, especially in energetic material processing, will significantly contribute to your success in this role.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:


  • Ability to read and accurately interpret drawings and specifications
  • Ability to develop and consistently perform chemical processes safely
  • An interest in learning about the aerospace industry and pyrotechnic devices
  • A knowledge or interest in developing energetic material processes
  • An intrinsic willingness to learn from and respect management and co-workers
  • Ability to interpret test data and draw logical scientific conclusions
  • Consistently follows company standards and procedures
  • Hands-on design experience in mechanical, electro-mechanical and/or hydraulic components
  • Basic understanding of materials and processing specs
  • Experience creating part and assembly drawings and part lists
  • Strong communication skills with suppliers, customers and internal departments
  • Knowledge of Aerospace and Military standards
  • Prior experience with energetic material processing
  • Experience with aerospace methods and pyrotechnic devices
  • GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Understanding of machining and machine shop practices
  • Experience with Solidworks or similar CAD platform
  • Experience with production assembly and test
  • Product lifecycle management (PLM) using Enovia, TeamCenter or Windchill
  • Familiarity with production and test documents
